Lisbon
Combine golf and relaxation in Estoril/Cascais or Montijo and Sesimbra with Lisbon’s grand architecture and its distinctive offerings of culture, restaurants, and vibrant street life.
Located 25 kilometers west of Lisbon, Estoril is a classic and elegant little resort at the mouth of the Tagus River. Often called “the coast of the sun” or “the Portuguese Riviera,” Estoril (and nearby Cascais) was the place where wealthy, famous, and even royal Europeans sought refuge during World War II, when Portugal was safe and neutral.
Grand hotels and Europe’s largest casino were built to welcome them, and it was here that Ian Fleming got the idea for James Bond. Although 007’s birthplace may no longer be as glamorous, it remains a very vibrant, cosmopolitan town. Surrounding Estoril, you’ll find aristocratic estates, world-class golf courses, a Grand Prix racetrack, and, of course, stunning beaches.
From Estoril’s charming little town center, there’s a lovely walk along the sandy beach to neighboring Cascais, with its streets, alleys, and many restaurants, cafes, and bars. Along the promenade, there are plenty of small, pleasant bars where you can enjoy the sunset, or why not join a football or beach volleyball match on the beach?

Play at Clube de Golf do Estoril, one of the oldest and most iconic golf courses in Portugal.
